Eric –
I have a Husquavarna 395xp with a 36″ blade. I bought the 48 thinking I had room to grow if I wanted to. I don’t want to go any bigger. After a year of use, I am tempted to cut the length of the rails down so they do not get in the way when cutting in tight spaces where the logs are closer together. I’m actually thinking my 36″ blade is a bit too big for what I want to do. I often get very big logs delivered (too big for my 36″ blade) and it is easier to take the first top cut for a flat surface, then cut them in half and saw. Drying 28″ wide boards that are 8′ to 10′ long is a challenge. Too heavy to carry by myself and they usually have some sort of internal stressors that making drying that wide a challenge. For me I would have been good with a 36″ or slightly smaller. All of this is my fault, trying to do too big too soon. But love the product. Well built and I do not regret the purchase. Like I said cutting the ends off the bars to turn it into the 36″ version is easy if you later change your mind like I did. Which will void the warranty.
